                                   Introduction

                                   In the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), the theory of facet analysis owes its
                                   development to two sources: S.R. Ranganathan and the Classification Research Group (CRG).
                                   Ranganathan developed the theory of facet analysis because he was dissatisfied with the inability
                                   of traditional enumerative bibliographic classification systems to allow for the expression of
                                   compound subjects. Unlike Ranganathan, the CRG is not concerned principally with the “style”
                                   of notation, e.g., whether the notation should be pure or mixed, faceted or non-faceted, and so
