Introduction
Literature is the art of written works. It may be divided into three major literary forms, viz. poetry,
fiction, and drama. Poetry is usually categorized into three main types: epic, dramatic and lyric. All
three subtypes share common traits, including specific patterns of rhythm and syntax, frequent use
of figurative language, and emphasis on the way that words are arranged on the page.
