The Toolbar
The toolbar (shown below in Figure 13.6 is from Netscape Navigator 3) is a series of buttons
that you can click to quickly access common tasks.

The Location Bar
The location bar (from Netscape Navigator 3, shown in Figure 13.7) displays the address of
the last page that the browser has loaded. You can also use the location bar to enter the
addresses of a page where you want to go.

Opening a New Browser Window
Whenever you want to open a new browser window you will have to follow these instructions:
Click on the file menu, and select “New” from this menu. A new browser window will open
on the screen. Use this new window for testing Web browsing techniques in the laboratory.
Navigation Within a Page
Most of the navigation that you will do in browsing the involves the use of mouse. The basic
concept of using the should be clear to you. So, let us just make sure that we are the same
terminology for the same actions and objects that in the mouse.
Cursor: This is the object that you can move around screen by moving your mouse.
Pointing: This is the act of moving the cursor over an on screen.
Clicking: This is the act of pressing the button on mouse, usually after pointing.
Selecting: The selection is done by dragging the cursor over the item’and then releasing it
in the Windows operating system.
Highlighting: Highlighting is the act of clicking the cursor and dragging it over a section
of text or images to highlight.
Scrolling: This is a method of viewing hidden parts of a page that is too large to be viewed
on screen all at once. To scroll, point and click on either the arrows or the bar of a scrollbar.
Scrollbars are shown in Figure 13.8.
