11.6 Summary Notes
z There are three articles, “a”, “an” and “the”.
z “A” and “an” are indefi nite articles.
z “The” is the defi nite article.
z A noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place, thing, and abstract idea.
z An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying
words. An adjective usually precedes the noun or the pronoun which it modifi es.
z Adverbs often tell when, where, why, or under what conditions something happens or
happened.
11.7 Keywords
Adjective: It is a word that tells us something about a noun, that is, about a person, an animal, a
thing or a place.
Adverb: It is a verb that can modify a verb, an adjective, another adverb, a phrase, or a clause.
Countable Nouns: Nouns can be “counted”, they have a singular and plural form.
Uncountable Nouns: Also called mass nouns or noncount nouns, they cannot be counted; they
are not separate objects.
