Unit 12: Doctor Faustus: Detailed Analysis of Seven Deadly Sins
“‘Come now, let us reason together,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be Notes
as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
God has promised to make us pure and white and whole; this cleansing and purification
was provided through, His Son, Jesus Christ. There was no contribution from man. “You see,
at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” All we need
to do is believe that Christ died for us and accept Him as Savior and Lord.
If God has provided a remedy for sin, how can it be deadly? The deadliness of sin was erased
through the death of Christ and the shedding of His blood. God loves us so much that He sent His
Son to earth for the express purpose of accomplishing this. However, if we do not believe and
accept what God has offered, than any sin we commit will be deadly. “For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world
through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands
condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Elucidate that the deadliness of sin was erased through the death of Christ and the
shedding of His blood.
