                        Notes            • A mouse or other pointing device.

                                         • A printer supported by Windows 95 or Windows 98, preferably a laser printer.
                                       7.1.2.5 Starting Word

                                       Use one of the following three methods to activate Word:

                                         • Click the Start menu button and choose Microsoft Word from the Programs menu.
                                         • Click the Start menu button, choose Microsoft Office from the Programs menu and then
                                           select MS-Word.

                                         • Choose Start » Run, enter the path and program name in the Open text box and then
                                           click the OK button to start Word.

                                       Word can be started automatically, whenever Windows starts, if Word is placed (WinWord.exe
                                       file) into Startup folder in the Start menu.

                                       7.1.2.6 Opening Documents Automatically

                                       To start Word and open a document named Letter.doc that is stored in a folder named Docs
                                       on the C drive:
                                         • Click the right mouse button on shortcut icon for Word.

                                         • Add a document filename after the program named in the Target text box:
                                       “C:\Office\Winword.exe” “C:\Docs\Letter.doc”




                                                     If you want to use Microsoft word make sure the MS office is successfully
                                                     installed in your computer system.




                                       7.2 The Word Environment


                                       7.2.1 Microsoft Word 2007
                                       Microsoft Office Word 2007 is a sophisticated word processing program that helps you create,
                                       edit, and produce professional-looking documents. Word 2007 has been extensively overhauled
                                       and updated from the previous versions. It presents a complete set of writing tools in a new
                                       graphical user interface. These tools are easier to find and allow you to give your document
                                       a consistent look when adding styles, impressive graphics, columns, and tables. This manual
                                       will serve as both an introduction to Microsoft Word 2007, as well as a guide to better assist
                                       your transition from Word 2003 to Word 2007.

                                       7.2.1.1 Getting Started
                                       In order to access Word 2007, you will need to do one of the following:

                                       • Double-click the shortcut on your desktop (if applicable), or
                                       • Navigate to Word 2007 through the Start Globe button > AH Programs > Microsoft Office.
