resulting list of available hotspots. Granted, you can find third-party connection managers Notes

5.1.1 The Find Feature
The Find feature can be used to locate the following:
• Files or Folders: it helps in finding files or folders after providing their names and
location. The file can also be searched by a distinctive word or phrase it contains. Files
can also be searched by their date of creation or their size.
• Computers: Using this we can find a particular computer on the network by providing
the name of the computer.
• On the Internet: Any information on the Internet can be searched by providing the
required information.
• People: Internet can be searched using this option.
5.1.2 Properties
Sometimes, it is important to have information about files, folders, and programs. For
example, we might require the size and location a particular file if a certain program is not
running. This information can be easily found in the property sheet. To invoke the property
sheet of any item, right click its icon and choose properties from the menu that appears. The
property sheet of that item will appear containing the characteristics of that item like color,
size, shape, etc.
5.1.3 Quick View
Quick View is an interesting feature that enables us to take a quick peek at the contents of
a file without opening a big program. It appears on the shortcut menu when an icon for a
document is right clicked. Quick view only appears if it has been installed and only if the
document can be viewed in that manner.
5.1.4 Right Clicking
The left mouse button opens an object but it is the right mouse button that really adds power
to Windows 98. Every thing on the desktop including the desktop can be right clicked. It
displays a shortcut menu of commands appropriate for the item on which the mouse is right
clicked.
5.2 An Overview of Different Versions of Windows
The goal of evolution of a new version is always to make each new version a bit more powerful,
easier to learn and use. Windows 98 is definitely easier to manage than Windows 95. Ostensibly
it is almost identical to Windows 95 but it differs slightly in the way it operates. For example,
it includes single click launching, submenu options and tool tip’s text opens in a different
manner, etc.
Also Windows 98 includes facilities for new forms of communications and entertainment.
Thus, what makes Windows 98 desirable is:
• It is easy to learn and use.
• It works with virtually every kind of program and gizmo available today.
• It is ready to bring all the exciting new electronic communications and entertainment
technologies.
