• Select the file on which you want to work. Notes
• Click on Open button or press Enter.
7.9 Finding Files
The Find Files feature is a part of Open dialog box, and works by searching for a filename
or specific words or phrases in the document. Searching of a file(s) can be done by filename,
text or date of last modification. Searching can also be done by using the advanced button
in the Open dialog box.
7.10 Word’s Document Views
Word lets the user view documents from a number of different perspectives to make them
easier to visualize and quicker to work with. These display options are called views. Word
provides the following views Normal, Outline, Print Layout, Web Layout, and Print
preview. To change the view either use View menu or View buttons on the horizontal
scroll bar.
Changing the size of the margins can reformat complete document or
part of text.
7.10.1 Normal View
Normal view is the default view. It is not a true WYSIWYG view because one cannot see
headers and footers, footnotes and annotations but the formatting and layout elements of
the document can be seen. Working with this view is relatively speedy. You should work
in Normal view to type, edit, and format text.
7.10.2 Print Layout View
Print Layout view should be used to see how text, graphics, and other elements will be
positioned on the printed page. This view is useful for editing headers and footers, for
adjusting margins, and for working with columns and drawing objects.
7.10.3 Outline View
Outline view is a specialized view that one can use to organize a document. In Outline
view, you can expand or collapse portions of the document to see only the headings of
your choice. You can quickly and easily move and copy large portions of the document
in Outline view.
All paragraphs even your heading paragraphs appear in Outline view as body text
paragraphs. But you can promote any body text paragraph to any level of heading that
you want, and you can demote a heading to body text. In Outline view, you can collapse
a document to see only the main headings, or you can expand it to see all headings and
even body text.
7.10.4 Web Layout View
Web Layout view should be used when you are creating a Web page or a document that
is viewed on the screen. In Web Layout view, you can see backgrounds, text is wrapped to
fit the window, and graphics are positioned just as they are in a Web browser.
