7.5 Saving a Document
Click the Save button, or choose File >> Save. The Save As dialog box appears. By default,
the File name text box lists the first sentence of the document.
Enter a name of up to 255 characters for the file. A filename can contain letters, numbers,
and spaces, as well as the following symbols:
s,
!, @, #, %, &, (, ), [, l, -, {, }.
Word automatically adds the filename extension .doc to the filename. Choose OK, or press
Enter to save the document.
7.5.1 The Save Options: Fast Save or Full Save
The Save As dialog box includes an Options button. Clicking the Options button is same as
choosing the Tools > > Options and then clicking the Save tab.
Save tab displays different options to save a file. The two most important save option are:
• Allow fast saves
• Always create back-up copy
