4.3.3 Retouching Tools Notes

Photoshop offers a large selection of tools and features for retouching photographs and images.
Further in this book you’ll learn how to use the common touch-up tools.

Core Retouching Tools

Retouching in this context means making changes to the content of the image beyond global
changes to tone or color of the image.
Pixels are modified, moved, scrunched, and smoothed in various ways to create a slightly new
variation of your image.

Caution Use the retouching tools in a way that does not produce out-of-place or unrealistic-
looking images.
After a retouch the images will differ as per the effects we apply. The pictures below show the
difference.
