An operating system is a program that acts as an interface between a user of a computer Notes
and the computer hardware.
The purpose of an operating system is to provide an environment in which a user may
execute programs.
The primary goal of an operating system is to make the computer convenient to use. And
the secondary goal is to use the hardware in an effi cient manner.

time, as long as the computer is operational and exits only when the computer is shut down.
Desktop System: Modern desktop operating systems usually feature a Graphical user interface
