                                   12.4 Summary

Subordinating conjunctions are used to join a dependent clause (incomplete thought) to an
                                       independent clause.

The subordinating conjunction "when" is used to join the dependent clause to the
                                       independent clause.
The independent clause (SVC) contains a subject (S), a verb (V), and a completer (C). The
completer - any word or words that complete the thought.
Phrases are word groups that function within the sentence.
Subordinate clauses are not complete sentences because they have a subordinator before
                                       their subject.
