             Windows 98 supports two different desktop interfaces: the “Standard Desktop” and the ‘‘Active  Notes
             Desktop”.  The  standard  desktop  was  introduced  in  Windows  95.  While  using  the  standard
             desktop,  desktop  icons  are  activated  by  double  clicking  on  them.  The  active  desktop  was
             introduced in Internet Explorer 4.0. It enables the desktop and other windows applications to
             look and act as a web page while using the active desktop, pointing the mouse pointer at an
             icon displays an explanation about the icon. The icons can be activated by only a single click.
             Steps  to  enable  Active  desktop  are:

                • Right  click  on  a  blank  spot  on  the  desktop.
                • Highlight  the  Active  Desktop  command.
                • Choose  View  As  Web  Page.

             In Windows 95 the operating system automatically placed the “My Computer” icon and the
             “Recycle Bin” on the desktop. The icons that appeared for these items were standard—they
             could  not  be  changed.  But  in  Windows  98,  the  icons  can  be  changed.  The  steps  are:
