Notes the image quality. The CorelDraw is ideal for creating drawings, in which objects are created
and modified again and again while designing.
The CorelDraw is a top supplier of graphics software, including the very popular CorelDraw
program. Both creating and editing images can be done using the tools of CorelDraw. The type
of project determines the type of desktop publishing tools that you will use. CorelDraw is one
of the finest Desktop publishing software that allows users to create illustrations containing
text, graphics and photographs. Corel has a wide range of tools which facilitate the user to edit
any shape or character effortlessly with precision, create custom color separations and fit text to
curves. It is developed and marketed by Corporation of Ottawa. All the files of Adobe PageMaker,
Microsoft Publisher and Word can be opened using this tool and other programs can print
documents to Adobe PDF using the Writer printer driver, which such software can then open
and edit every part of the initial layout and designs.
The software contains a huge range of over 1,000 fonts, provided in both TrueType and PostScript
Type 1 format. Corel is different from its opponent because of:
z It is more of a graphics suite, rather than just a vector graphics program.
z Users can adjust contrast, color balance, change the format from RGB to CMYK, add
special effects such as vignettes and special borders to bitmaps using a wide range of
editing tools.
z One can open the bitmap directly from Corel, expansively edit the same using Corel
Photo Paint, and return to the program after saving.
z It also provides a laser to cut out any drawing.
It is believed by the experts that it was the first of the Windows-based drawing programs and
had built on this early start to become far-and-away the dominant drawing package on the PC.
Its biggest Advantage and its biggest potential disadvantage is its all-encompassing approach.
In early times, this had led to accusations of unfocused bloating, but Corel has addressed the
criticisms with a far tighter and better rationalized program with version 7.0. Even though,
there’s still a huge range of functionality to cover.
2.2.3 Basics of Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor developed and marketed by Adobe Systems. It has
varied applications, from creating print to web graphics and, for our purposes, posters. The
program is complex and requires a considerable amount of time to master. But still it is quite
easy to learn the basics and create professional quality work. To design a poster, one just
requires have the patience to get familiar with the program. As it is recommended for most
computer applications, using the trial-and-error methodology is the best way to figure out the
ins and outs of this program.
Did u know? Adobe Illustrator was first developed for the Apple Macintosh in 1986 (shipping
in January 1987) as a commercialization of Adobe’s in-house font development software
and PostScript file format.
Photoshop recognizes individual dots each with a color value and a location in space. The
program makes images out of pixels. In contrast, Adobe Illustrator is a charting program which
deals with objects such as squares, circles and irregular shapes. It saves these shapes in files as
geometric equations with an associated size, color and location value. These objects can be
recoloured, resized and moved in correlation to each other. This is called scalable vector graphics.
When you select an object in Illustrator, you can move that object in front or behind other objects
