                                  Introduction

A diagnostic test is a form of an achievement test, under which specifics and shortcomings of
knowledge acquired from learning experiences of a specific object or topic are evaluated. In these
tests, the level of a student is not found out, rather the purpose of a diagnostic test for a teacher
is to found out what difficulty is being faced by a student in understanding a topic, what can be
its possible cause, how this difficulty can be eradicated etc. Instructional diagnosis is related not
merely with students’ individual abilities and strengths, but with the remedy of their weaknesses

of teaching in order to remove any difficulty of a student, so that he can gain maximum learning
experiences as per his ability. This type of teacher’s process is called remedial teaching.

                                  27.1 Concept of Diagnostic Test

The teaching in schools is carried out in a planned way. In it, the teachers try to find out at
regular intervals how much the students have learnt out of what has been taught to them. The
tests that are prepared to measure it are known as achievement tests. The results of these tests
present a new problem before the teachers that which part of the subject matter taught, the
