It is applied to very large-scale, one-time, complex, non-routine infrastructure and Research
and Development projects.
Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) takes the CPM network and adds
distributions to represent the activity times of the project.
12.6 Keywords
Controlling: The process of analyzing and evaluating the actual progress against the plan.
Float: The amount of time available by which it is possible to delay its completion time without
extending the overall project completion time.
Planning: Process of creating and maintaining a plan.
Scheduling: The process of deciding how to commit resources between the varieties of possible
tasks.
Slack: The amount of time that a task in a project network can be delayed without causing a
delay to subsequent tasks and project completion date.
