“It hangs on a concave wall in the lobby of the Oncology Unit at the hospital,” Barbara Notes
says. “The Brookside Gardens is such a beautiful and inspirational park and the center of
the quilt includes a large image of a pond that I think captures the tranquility of the place.
It has been very well received by staff and patients alike. It makes me happy to think that
something I have created, can comfort other people.”
Questions:
1. Study and analyze the case.
2. Write down the case facts.
3. What do you infer from it?

7.7 Summary
z CorelDraw Graphics Suite is a software package of design tools designed to run on
Windows operating systems.
z The Smart Drawing tool instantly translates rough drawings into proper shapes and
recognizes a variety of different shapes.
z The Smart Drawing tool uses Shape Recognition and Smart Smoothing to convert images.
z Using the Shape tool, you can drag a glyph to alter a shape and you can add text to the
inside or outside of the shape.
z Smart Drawing tool has a very important feature – delay time interval. It is the time
between the moment you finishing sketching a shape and the moment CorelDraw
determines a recognizable shape.
z Pick Tool is one of the most important tools used in Corel Draw for selection and editing
of the graphic. It lets you select and size, skew and rotate objects.
z You can specify settings for the size, orientation, and layout style of the page.
z Layers provide a very effective way to organize the objects you create with CorelDraw.
When you delete a layer, you also delete all the objects on it.
z Gradients are also called fountain fills in CorelDraw. They can fill objects with a smooth
transition between two (or more) colors, and they come in various styles.
z Angle option affects the direction of the fill but it’s not available for Radial. Edge Pad
affects the smooth mixing of two color and continuous gradation.
