                                       14.3 Social Security

The meaning of the term ‘social security’ varies from country to country. In socialist
countries, the nation’s goal is complete protection of every citizen. In capitalist countries,
a measure of protection is afforded to a needy citizen in consistence with resources of the
state. According to the social security (minimum standards) convention (No. 102) adopted
by the ILO in 1952, following are the nine components of social security:

                                         • Medical Care
                                         • Sickness Benefit
                                         • Unemployment Benefit
                                         • Old-age Benefit

                                         • Employment Injury Benefit NOTES
                                         • Family Benefit
