Column and Row Headings
The <th> tag defines a header cell in an HTML table. An HTML table has two kinds of cells:
header cells – contains header information (created with the <th> element) and standard cells –
contains data (created with the <td> element).
The <caption> tag defines a table caption. It must be inserted immediately after the <table> tag.
You can specify only one caption per table.
Notes By default, the table caption will be center-aligned above a table. You can change
this using the properties “text-align” and “caption-side”.
Self Assessment
Fill in the blanks:
4. Each table row is essentially a table element itself, with an opening and closing tag
……………………
5. Table columns or cells are also considered …………………… elements of HTML tables.
6. The …………………… tag defines a header cell in an HTML table.
11.3 Table Properties
The table consists of many properties using which we can customize it as per our need. Some of
the properties are discussed below:
11.3.1 Inserting Tables in Dreamweaver
Tables are an excellent method of presenting certain types of information on web pages, especially
that content that is best represented in rows or columns.
Adding a Table to the Page
To create a table, use the Insert bar or the Insert menu. You can add text and images to the
table in the same way that you add text and images outside of a table. In the Design view
of the Document window, place the insertion point where you want the table to appear. Select
Insert->Table from the Insert menu or choose the Table button in the Common category of the
Insert Bar.
