Introduction
PageMaker is a desktop publishing program. It is used to create documents with a complex
layout of text and graphics, such as brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, fliers, reports etc. It offers
certain functionalities of a graphics program, and is therefore more suited to organizing pages
compared to a word processing program (especially when including graphic images in the
document). With Adobe PageMaker, you can work at your own design level to achieve the
superb results you require. You can start with eye-catching templates or design your own
unique layouts, use included stock photographs or incorporate your own multilayer Adobe
Photoshop graphics, or optimize your work for high-end printing or crisp on-screen resolution.
Whatever your publishing needs are, you can count on PageMaker for complete control in
creating persuasive and effective communications.
14.1 Working Area of PageMaker
Let us now discuss about the basics of PageMaker.
14.1.1 Toolbox
The PageMaker Toolbox contains all of the tools you will use for creating and manipulating text
and objects. It also contains two tools to help you view your publication. If the Toolbox is not
visible or if you have closed it and want to redisplay it, then select Show Tools from the Window
menu.
