Unit 14: PageMaker
Notes
Did u know? PageMaker was one of the first desktop publishing programs, introduced in
1985 by Aldus Corporation initially for the then-new Apple Macintosh and in 1987 for PCs
running Windows 1.0.

14.1.3 Page in Control Palette
It defines the print area of a publication. We can set the dimensions of the page while creating a
new publication.
14.1.4 Pasteboard in Control Palette
The PageMaker Pasteboard is similar to the old style paste-up or mock-up boards used by
newspapers and magazines to layout pages. In PageMaker, the Pasteboard appears as a large
white space all around the marked off area of the document. It provides a workspace outside the
page where you can store and manipulate elements before positioning them on the page.
14.1.5 Styles and Color Palettes
Color Palette in PageMaker is used to assign spot, process and tints for all objects and text within
the document. Note that placed EPS graphics will import their colors within the color palette.
