Notes 14.4.2 Placing Graphics
Click on the area where you want to place the graphic. Do not select anything on your page else
it will be replaced with graphic you are trying to insert.
Placing Figure in a Document
To add a figure in your PageMaker document, follow the steps below:
1. Go to the page on which you want to insert the graphic.
2. Select one of the three graphics placeholders from the toolbar and position it on the page;
the placeholders are polygons containing an “X”.
3. Select the placeholder that you positioned on the page.
4. Go to the File menu and select Place.
5. Navigate to the graphic file you want to insert in the document.
6. Select the file and click OK to place the graphic inside the graphic placeholder.
7. If the placeholder is too small to contain the entire graphic, resize the placeholder by
selecting it, then dragging one of its handles outward.
8. Resize and reposition placed graphics where you want them to be located.
9. To resize a graphic, select it, then drag one of its handles (small boxes that are part of the
selection box) outward to enlarge the graphic or inward to shrink the graphic.
10. To reposition the graphic, drag it into position on the page.

Toolbox contains all the tools used to create a publication in PageMaker. Choose Window and
