Cloud Computing

Notes simultaneously, with each of your changes happening in real time. If we collaborate with a
Web-based application, it is both faster and convenient. It also saves the person from making
extra effort in trying to assemble everyone’s work into a single document.
Google calendar is yet another Web-based scheduling program used by individuals to manage
their schedules. Similarly, sports teams and other groups also use Web-based calendars to alert
their members of forthcoming events and activities. Authorised group members can also add
their own events and items to this calendar.

                                   2.3.2 User with Incensing Needs

Hardware-based cost savings also apply to individual computer users. If you need more hard
disk space to store all your MP3 files and digital photos, you could simply utilize lower-cost
cloud storage. You can use a less-demanding Web-based application if you face problems while
running the latest version of your favourite software program because it is power hungry. You
can have thousands of computers are at your disposal if you use the power of the cloud.
In earlier times, the only answer to increased needs was to purchase more powerful hardware.
With cloud computing, the solution is in the cloud which saves currency.

                                   2.3.3 Road Warriors

Cloud computing is also beneficial for a road warrior. If you are a road warrior who works
some days from office, some days from home and another few days in another city altogether,
you may end up having different versions of your document on your work computer and your
laptop. In such a situation, it is difficult to keep track of all your documents and applications and
you might forget to carry the edited and updated version of your document everywhere. It will
be a boon for you if could access a one single version of your document anywhere. When in
office, you log in to your Web-based app and access your stored document. You can then go
home and use your web browser to access that very application or document through the
Internet. Even while traveling to another city you can still access and use the same application or
                                   document.
Cloud computing saves you from the effort of remembering which document is stored where
and relieves you from carrying your documents from one place to another. The applications and
documents are stored on the web and accessible wherever you have an Internet connection
therefore there is no need to worry about whether a specific application is installed on all your
                                   PCs.

                                   2.3.4 Cost-conscious IT Departments

Many corporate IT Departments are also becoming hooked to the cloud computing model.
Although they might appreciate the software savings discussed earlier, for them more savings
result from having to buy fewer central servers.

Much of the computing on the corporate level takes place on the servers that are centrally
located on the company’s network. More servers need to be purchased when users need more
                                   computing power.
This need for more computing power becomes when an organization adopts cloud computing.
The IT staff simply redirects the computing request out of the cloud instead of buying a new
server. The servers that contain the cloud have sufficient capacity to handle the company’s
bigger needs. In this process, the IT staff is also saved from buying a new hardware.
