Introduction
Protocol is a diplomatic and political term that refers to appropriate behavior and rules of
conduct for a particular situation or event. Protocol can also be a more sophisticated word to use
to denote appropriate actions or rules in business . Protocol can also be used as a verb, meaning
“to draw up or issue a protocol,” but is most often used to refer to rules or conventions.
Examples: Business protocol requires that we arrive at this meeting well-prepared and
on time. (etiquette)
We currently have several security protocols in place to insure that any sensitive company
information is protected. (rules)
